With pensopay you are able to accept payments via Google Pay™.
An acquirer agreement with Clearhaus is necessary to add Google Pay as a payment method.
What is Google Pay™?
Google Pay is a contactless, mobile payment service that allows for in-app and online purchases with devices such as Android phones, tablets or watches. Users are thereby able to make payments in a safe and simple way, with their device being the only prerequisite for completing a transaction.
The payment method works as a digital wallet system, where users pay with the existing payment cards added to their Google Wallet app. Once at least one payment card has been added to Google Wallet, Google Pay can be used across Google's services regardless of the device.
What are the costs of using Google Pay?
Google Pay is free to add as an additional payment method via your agreement with pensopay. The cost of receiving a transaction via Google Pay, is the same as that of a regular card payment, and there are no additional fees.
How to activate Google Pay
To accept payments through Google Pay via pensopay, the payment method needs to be activated in pensopay gateway.
Activate Google Pay under Settings > Facilitators > Google Pay > Configure
(If you cannot see Google Pay as a payment method, contact us at support@pensopay.com).
When using Shopify, Google Pay will only show as an alternative payment method when opening the card payment window.
Note: Google Pay is compatible with recurring payments.
Auto-fee and Google Pay are not compatible.
Implementing Google Pay in an app
To use Google Pay in your app, you will need to follow Google’s Google Pay Android developer documentation, Google Pay Android integration checklist and Google Pay Android brand guidelines.
SCA and PSD2
Google Pay supports a tokenized solution. Most issuers will accept this as being SCA, and the need for completion of full 3D-secure will therefore not be required.
If the tokenized solution is not used for a payment, or the issuer declines the transaction due to missing SCA, pensopay will prompt the cardholder to use the 3D-secure flow to ensure that the payment can be successfully completed.
All merchants using this payment method, must adhere to the Acceptable Use Policy of the Google Pay APIs and accept the terms defined in the Google Pay API Terms of Service.
